Open
Open Source software is computer software in which the rights that are usually reserved for copyright holders such as source code access, redistribution rights and exclusion/restriction rights are all “open” and provided to the public under a software license that falls in line with OS definition.
Key rights that are considered the public’s property under OS software Definition:
• Open source -- full access to source code
• Free redistribution -- of modified code (usually “patch files” under different name or version number) and unmodified source code
• Exclusion/Restriction – Open Source strives to be a no exclusion or discrimination software. And also does not restrict any other software.
• Collaborative intellectual property - not owned or controlled by anyone
Open Source software is a unique platform in which we can collectively use, adjust and advance upon others creations, thus evolving the capacity of software’s purpose and usability.
